L2 Authorised Ashtanga Teacher in the lineage of Sharath Jois, Mysuru India.

Classes + community 6 days a week for all levels.

Working with a traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga practice, Emma and team teaches in a student-centred way, in a Mysore style class, so that you can build a practice appropriate for your place, time, body and circumstances.

Community being at the heart of the practice, Emma supports a daily Mysore community in Edinburgh, and online, so you can connect deeply with others walking the same path of self exploration.

Emma strongly believes that your yoga asana practice can move beyond the physical, it's also about the lessons we take off the mat, the mental strength and stability and the understanding of breath to support us in our everyday lives.

You will find chanting, pranayama, philosophy and meditation all offered at Ashtanga Yoga Edinburgh.

In her teaching you'll find both a large physical element but also moving beyond into sanskrit, chanting and philosophy from ancient yogic texts that will leave you feeling inspired.

Emma is a great advocate for your practice improving your quality life, making you better in your body and mind and relationships with those around you. Yoga isn't supposed to make your life harder! If it is, then do assess why?

 

About Emma

Disciplined without being rigid- I believe that everyone can practice yoga, even Ashtanga vinyasa yoga, that everything is adaptable, accessible and can be tailored to you especially in the Mysore room.

After over 15 years of daily practice, āsana and beyond, I’ve have the honour of practicing with several key teachers: Sharath Jois (L2 authorised in 2017), Sarah Durney Hatcher, Angela Jamison and beyond

I’m committed to the community at Ashtanga Yoga Edinburgh, where I support, manage and direct the teaching of our traditional Ashtanga mysore program.   Currently, you’ll find me in the early morning room (hours below).  The rest of our team- Vanessa Rigby, Amy Hughes and Kirsten Waugh teaching other parts of our program with much skill and joy! The program runs both in-studio and online, so know you can join us wherever you are.

With any traditional Ashtanga Mysore program- we follow the moon days, so no asana practice and take rest. Click here to see why and the 2024 dates.
